5 things you should know before you start vaping

Are you considering starting vaping? Here are the top 5 things you should know before you start vaping.

1. You may not be able to vape in public areas

In the UK, there is no specific law that bans vaping in indoor or public areas. Property owners and public organisations, therefore, have the right to decide whether or not they will allow vaping. It is always advisable to check online or ask a member of staff if vaping is allowed if you are in a public area.

2. You need to replace your coil

Every vape tank has a coil that must be replaced every so often. Generally, a coil should last a few weeks but you will know when the coil needs to be replaced because it will start to taste burnt.

3. You may experience coughing

Many smokers develop a cough after they quit smoking, and mistakenly think their cough is caused by their vape. Whilst many vapers cough a little whilst they get used to vaping, vaping should not create a persistent cough. If you notice you are coughing consistently, you should consider seeing your GP.

4. It may take time before you find your favourite e-liquid flavour

There are many pre-mixed e-liquid flavours available, meaning it may take some time before you find your favourite flavour. To help find your favourite flavour easily, think about scents, flavours and fragrances you enjoy in your day to day life and look for e-liquids that are similar.

5. Nicotine strengths can vary

You can choose what strength of nicotine you would like in your e-liquid. Some ex-smokers select their nicotine strength based on how much they smoked in the past whilst others may choose to vape a lower nicotine strength to help them cut back. If you have never smoked before and don’t want to vape nicotine, there are e-liquids available with no nicotine.
